hello! from what i can see, not all of the constructions are on pillars. did you studied their effects in changing the water currents? i may be wrong, but some parts of the beach will erode and the sand will lay down elsewhere...

Nice...it reminds me of the roadsides in Newfoundland (albeit without the traffic, etc.). There isn't any soil there (parent material origin), so people use the roadsides as farmland where there is imported substrate material to construct the road.…
