Eric, sorry for the late reply I don't know how I missed it. I assume you are talking about the Epic downtown on the river. The installer that I work with was involved with the project, it has great boat access from the bay and accommodates large yachts. I like the scale of the projects you are working on. Back in San Fran I used to work with a firm, VITA, that did similar resort projects. Thanks for your comments..

Hi D. Eric Bowyer

Nice to have you, as a contact, how did you find me, as a young Swiss landscape designer?

regards Gian

Hi Mike, We are in Florence for a few days, I saw in your message that you worked with Hart/Howerton....I think they worked on many of the Auberge Resort Projects? We are working on the new Auberge in St. John's U.S. Virgin Islands. Did you work on Palmetto Bluff? I visited there last year and it was and incredible place....

Congrats to you and Peter, very brave to call out "50" over the internet! My wife and I were just in Tuscany last August for our 10th Anniversary, wonderful place, have a glass of Red for me! I also have kept in contact with Dave L., sounds like he enjoying Virginia. I have been working in Boston and Cambridge for the past 9 years and until recently, was a Senior Master Planner at Hart Howerton. With the real estate bust, I am now getting by on my own, doing some odd resort work here and there. I seen an ad for SCI Singapore and was thinking about applying until you told me about the situation, thanks! Glad to hear Emura is with you, great person to work with, new her at both Canin and EDSA. All the best with SCI Florida and keep me in mind if you need a hand with work in the future.

Hi Dale, thanks for your information about the pool lighting, looks interesting and fun!.

About your portfolio in Spain, I've taken note, I'll see if I can take a look at any of them.
If you ever need any help on spanish projects, or if we can help you with site visits or nursery visits or what ever please make me know. We've even worked on some turnkey projects for our clients so we can help you a lot.
Recently we've been working with an English landscape firm, and we are willing to work with other international landscape and architects firms, we are open to international business relations. For international standards we are, well trained, "cheap" professionals. All comments are well come.

We are now working on a turnkey project, which has a roof garden, I'll upload some pictures as soon as its finished.
Sincerely, Fernando

Hi,
you started your company in 92!, where was I then....just .starting out school ,LoL. Thanks for sharing your portifolio.... its definitely inspiring. Started working last year , so looking at what other professionals have done, is one of my favorite past times, especially that we are among the pioneer landscape architects here. Will definitely be checking out your folio .

Ruth.

Hi Dale, Its fun reading your messages, I like the one about selling the babies if the dog has pups, My dog had to be neutered as part of the contract since he was the runt and his dad was a big time show dog in California. He has been the best dog and is so sensitive to everything. He goes to the office with us everyday and at six oclock he knows its time to go home. Peter and I have been designing resort projects since 1981-1982, The firm Peridian which I went to right from OSU was just staring in Resort design and we grabbed the opportunity since the bosses were not designers. I started with the first Ritz Carlton resort in Laguna Niguel California and it snowballed from there. My partner Imrik graduated at the top of his class from Cal Poly Pomona and won the ASLA national award. He has my talent times two and is the best natural designer I know. I was beginning to travel internationally at Peridian but then in 1992 after a trip to Singapore I had to come back through los angeles to see the bosses in Irvine California regarding the closure of my Orlando, office to help boost the California office with an influx of Disney projects. I was devastated by the news and on the way back to Orlando at the Los angeles airport I was carjacked at gunpoint and had everything stolen only to hear the next day that the company sent out a memo saying they were not responsible for any losses incurred on a business trip even though I was filling up the car which was required at a gas station by the airport where I was robbed. I realized I had to make a change and I joined Peter and another guy in San Francisco to start Site Concepts International. We got a break by having and architect in London who I was close to who also knew Peter to reccommend us to a resort developer in Egypt. That was for a large resort development near Hurgada, Egypt called Soma Bay where we have done all the new hotels since 1992. Then we got the contract for the Hyatt resort called Los Millares in Spain for a Billionaire tycoon who loved us. Unfortunatly he died during a bypass surgery so the Resort was never built. Also Hyatt liked Peter from his previous work designing the Hyatt Kauai in Hawaii. They gave us the difficult Hyatt Lagos Nigeria which we did a beautiful job with designing only to have the client collapse and stiff us for $40,000 our first year in business,,,,that was tough but we have been on their A list for sixteen years. From all the Hyatt work it all snowballed and we get other developers coming to us for other brands as well. in about 1997 we landed the contract for the Grande Lakes resort which was largest Resort and most expensive development of its kind other then in Los Vegas. The project sold for a three hundred million dollar profit about to years after it was completed. We formed a joint venture called Canin/SCI which was the company which had the original contact. The project lasted about three years and was a very large contract. We do very little active marketing other then following leads as we get them. We have also kept our office small so Peter and I can be hands on with each project. We have one of our best employees from our California office working full time from her home in San Luis Opisbo, California. I think we had about the best possible class at OSU for all the talent and how competitive it made us. Also the professors were very good even though I was to serious and had my problems with Jerry Marston we learned so much. I have not seen that many talented people after all these years working. Jerry Marston is at WRT in Miami and lives in Coral Gables, you can see his photo on their website, Jim Stickley is the head of the WRT office in San Francisco. Did you see the computer images of the reort in Fiji that we are developing with our architect friend from Spain. It is on the most beautiful beach in Fiji and it is part of his wifes family tribal land. We have put alot of money into it but we are holding back now until this economic slowdown ends. We do have one of our Saudi Arabian clients interested in being our main investor. It took two years to aquire the 99 year land lease even with the family ties. Fiji is a beutiful place. We even designed a Hyatt resort in Fiji which did not get completed. If all the projects we have designed were built it would be amazing. We have half finished resort projects in The Phillipines, Marbella,Spain Phuket Thailand , Chiang Mai Thailand and Egypt not including all those which never even got started. It is the nature of resort projects and financing, govt. problems and economics that many die out during or after the drawings are finished. Well thats a bit of our story, I want to show more albums of our unbuilt work, it may be interesting. Let me know if I ever start repeating myself. Keep us in mind if you ever get a lead which you need some backup on to get a contract, we could always work together. Joe Plumpes office got called back for a big Marriott project in Kabul, Afganistan with our combined portfolios. Marriott says we will have special guards to escort us for a site visit but we have survived riots in Egypt and Israeli snipers in Beth Lahem. Great to hear your fun stories. Sincerely, Eric B.

No kids, after all these years... not that we didn't try! I guess I just "went to the dogs"... at least the dogs don't ask to borrow the car... and if they get pregnant, you can sell their kids...
